Perimeter Solutions has secured FM 5130 approval for its SOLBERG® EVOLUTION 3% Synthetic Fluorine-Free Foam (SFFF), a Newtonian formulation designed for both aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) and fixed sprinkler applications.

The approval establishes the product as the first fluorine-free foam on the Department of Defense’s Qualified Products List to also hold FM approval for use in sprinkler systems. This simplifies the transition to fluorine-free technology for high-hazard applications like aircraft hangars and fuel storage facilities.

Because the foam has a Newtonian, water-like viscosity, it is compatible with a wide range of standard sprinkler hardware, making system design and retrofits more straightforward. According to the company, the formulation provides effective fire suppression for hydrocarbon fuels and has been tested with both aspirated and non-aspirated sprinkler heads. The product is also UL 162 listed and ICAO certified.
